Several avenues and streets in the capital will be closed starting the evening of April 30.
On the occasion of the main event for International Workers' Day in Revolution Square, the Havana Provincial Road Safety Commission has announced significant closure measures and traffic restrictions.
The operation will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, and will intensify starting at 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, affecting dozens of key roads to ensure the safety of the event and the mobility of participants.
Closures from the night of April 30
From 10:00 pm they will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking will be prohibited in:
- Walk, between Zapata and Ayestarán.
- Rancho Boyeros Avenue, from Tulipán to 19 de Mayo.
These initial restrictions anticipate the magnitude of the road safety operation that will be deployed around Revolution Square.
Highest number of roads closed since early morning
Starting at 3:00 a.m. on May 1st, the closure will extend to a wide area, including main avenues, side streets, and adjacent areas. Among the most notable are:
- Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Avenue, between Zapata and Vía Blanca.
- Aranguren Street, from Céspedes to Ayestarán.
- Rancho Boyeros, from Via Blanca to Salvador Allende.
- Walk from the Malecón to Ayestarán.
- Zapata, from 26 to Infanta.
- 23rd, Reina, and Simon Bolivar Avenues, among others.
- Streets like Infanta, G, 17, 19, 25, 27, Colón, Almendares, among many more.
- In addition, entire areas such as Tulipán, Subirana, Retiro, and Plasencia will be affected.
Traffic restrictions will also be in place on Prado Street, from Neptuno to Monte, and on Zanja Street, from Belascoaín to Infanta.
Recommended alternative routes
To facilitate mobility during road closures, drivers are advised to use the following routes:
Cerro, Monte, Belascoaín, Cristina, Vía Blanca, Malecón, Puerto Avenue, Avenues 41, 31, 26, 100th Street, Vento and Santa Catalina.
Call for civic responsibility
The Provincial Road Safety Commission urged drivers and pedestrians to strictly comply with the indicated measures and heed the instructions of law enforcement officers to avoid accidents and facilitate the event.
"We apologize for any inconvenience these measures may cause and urge the public to contribute to the success of this event," the official statement concludes.
