Truck driver arrested for attacking buses on a central street in Cárdenas

A violent attack on a state employee in Cárdenas has sparked a stir on social media.

The incident, which occurred this lunes, involved a crane truck and a bus, both belonging to the company Transtur, and left at least one person injured.

Arrest and formal charge after the incident

According to reported Authorities arrested the driver of the tractor-trailer truck after journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso was arrested. He was formally charged with public disorder. This crime is aggravated by the material damage caused and is considered highly dangerous to society.

Investigations indicate that the individual was driving while intoxicated and refused to yield to the Transmetro bus driver. When the public transport driver complained, the defendant hit him in the head. He then got into his vehicle and intentionally drove it into the bus, damaging its front end.

In addition to the physical injuries caused to the worker, the person responsible will face charges for the economic damages caused to state transportation and the traffic chaos caused on Avenida Sáez, between Mercedes and Salud streets.

Both vehicles belong to Transtur SA, a company subordinate to the Ministry of Tourism through the Cubasol Extra-Hotel Business Group. The company has more than 22 employees and operates under brands such as CUBACAR, REX, and Havanautos.

The altercation exposed reprehensible behavior among employees of the same government agency, in a public place and under circumstances that are still being investigated.
