During the month of May 2025, Copa Airlines continues to consolidate its presence in Cuba through active flights from Havana and Santa Clara, thus maintaining the air connection with Panama, a key destination for shopping tourism.

However, the "Frank País" International Airport in Holguín reported yesterday, through its networks social that it does not plan to resume operations with the Panamanian airline for the remainder of this year.

"Copa flights are not scheduled to resume at our airport this year," they stated.

Despite the lack of flights from Holguín, travelers from eastern Cuba can still access Copa's offers by traveling to other nearby terminals, such as the one in Villa Clara.

From Santa Clara's Abel Santamaría International Airport, flights to Panama City are operated twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. This route is convenient for residents of the central part of the country who avoid traveling to Havana.

For its part, Havana's José Martí International Airport strengthens its role as the country's main air entry and exit point with four daily Copa Airlines flights to Panama, offering high seat availability and flexible schedules.

These operations are joined by the Colombian airline Wingo, which connects Havana and Panama.unes, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, further expanding the air offer for shopping tourism.

This constant connectivity especially benefits the so-called "Cuban mules," citizens who frequently travel to Panama to purchase products in the Colón Free Zone and resell them in Cuba.

Amid the shortages the country is facing, these flights represent a key source of informal food for many families and entrepreneurs.

Although Holguín is left out of the Copa Airlines flight map in 2025, passengers still have functional options at other Cuban airports to access this important commercial route.
