Likewise, significant changes will be implemented in the Nauta Hogar service, allowing unused balances to be accumulated at the end of the month, a measure that could improve user satisfaction.

Furthermore, New offers in foreign currency will be promoted, expanding the options available to customers handling this currency.

Another initiative includes the introduction of payment for roaming out services (calls received while abroad) in foreign currency, which will allow users to access this service outside the country under new economic conditions.

According to officials, these measures will "strengthen" ETECSA's revenue-generating capacity, prioritizing strategies focused on foreign currency, a crucial resource for the country's economy in the current context.

During his address to the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), which met this week in Havana, Marrero explained that the measure seeks to raise foreign currency, given that the introduction of services in National Currency (MN) has reduced demand for packages offered in dollars.

The Prime Minister emphasized that prices in Mexican pesos "cannot remain unlimited" as they are now. He explained that a consumption limit will be established in this currency, and those who wish to exceed it will be subject to higher rates.

Marrero did not announce the prices of the new Internet rates in Cuba, nor when this measure would be implemented.

  1. Every time they have an idea, it's to harm the unfortunate worker. Don't go down that road. You don't go to a movie theater, a restaurant, a bar, a cabaret, a beach house, a pool, a hike, a trip to Spain, Greece, the Millionaire Islands!! To Mexico! AA NOTHING. !!_ Well, those of us who live on a salary!!!
We can't have any social life! We don't have enough money!! And on the other hand!! They want to take away our only entertainment!! DON'T PRESS ANYMORE!! ÑOOO MY SON!!
And by the way, there are some Internet problems, but at least we have some fun!

  2. Are you serious? If buying a cheap package is already difficult, they think this will help under the excuse that we complain about the connection. Is it really that difficult to put up a signal pole and that's it? It's obvious at first glance that it's a casino, for God's sake.

  3. When Cuba pays its workers in a currency other than the National Currency, which has no value, they will be able to implement these measures, since in itself you are forcing Cuba to invent and buy the other currency at a higher price on the street, and then where is this blockade that supposedly means you are lacking American currency, you are forcing the people to do things that not even you do.

  4. And we continue with the stupidity, they increase the price of a product which lacks QUALITY, then I hope they will say that said connection will improve greatly or in comparison to the current one.
Without electricity 16 hours a day and they will change the currency with which the package is purchased more than once
It's like saying "We don't care about your financial status, if you want to connect, pay me in dollars."
To start, why don't YOU pay us in dollars? You implement a currency for which you don't even pay us, and you require the purchase of various products in dollars.

  5. I find this completely unfair. What's the population's fault that ETECSA doesn't provide the revenue it should? The question is, what are the people who can't pay the fares in dollars doing? Has anyone thought about that?

  6. Isn't it enough to charge for a service they don't provide? To raise the cost, they should create the conditions so that the service is not lacking because since the undesirable blackouts began in the country, ETECSA receives free payments because the people do not receive the service that is provided. You cannot use Nauta Home at home; you must go out to look for a connection, so it ceases to be a service at home. You cannot use landlines because the phones stop working. You cannot use data or mobile calls. So, what services do they want to charge more for? First, invest in your businesses, create the conditions to provide a service despite the electrical impacts since everything is under the same government, then think about continuing to abuse a people who already live with too much oppression. Excuse me, but that's the reality.

    • It is honestly an abuse of the people who invents these laws and wants to turn the people against this failed government to the point where they will harass the people.

They don't have the conditions to provide the service and they are trying to charge as first quality, there are a lot of people whose data expires because they can't connect due to the poor quality of the connection, in another country they won't earn enough to pay fines for the poor service they provide.

  9. that's why we are like this and we're going further backwards. Here nobody thinks about the people, the only thing one has is a little bit of internet and not even that in the ostinant life in this country. The leaders only think about themselves and the health of their pocket and they do nothing to improve the economy of the country. Every day we have less and we are less. But they don't talk about raising salaries or pensions, of course because the people don't matter to them, everything is for their benefit and only theirs, when a doctor only earns 5000 and some pesos that is not enough after studying for six years, working hard at a university and spending millions for communism. They also don't think about the students who need the data to be able to study since everything is digital and there are not even physical books because in this country there is simply NOTHING. Here what is missing is for them to take away our houses and take away what's inside, they talk about capitalism but in this country nobody has anything, not even freedom of expression (which they boast so much)
That's why what happens happens and they don't understand why people are against them.

The expense is incalculable given the amount currently used. No measures have been announced in this regard. I believe urgent measures must be taken to curb spending in this sector. Any official of a state agency uses this tool, thereby creating privileges and corruption. There is a lack of oversight. It's not just the residential population that must guarantee the company's economic efficiency.

  37. They've left this country drowning in misery. Not a single sphere of the economy or infrastructure is functioning. Nothing works, not even the health services, where there are fewer doctors every day. Medical students, for the most part, only think about leaving as soon as they graduate. The electricity doesn't work, the internet even less so now, there are no roads, the fields are harvesting marabú for coal export, food prices are skyrocketing, retirees who worked so hard are dying of hunger or of their chronic illnesses because medicines are in short supply. This has become a country of lonely old people because their children leave for other valleys in search of a decent life. The people suffer in silence because Cubans have lost even the hope that this country will ever change, and in the meantime, we have to accept that leaders say they were wrong, that they will rectify their errors, that they will correct distortions, that it's all the blockade's fault, and to top it all off, we have to applaud their speeches and remain silent, without having the opportunity to elect others. They do whatever they want because they own a Parliament in which all laws are voted on unanimously, without even a single abstention. They own the judiciary and the executive branch. But one day, not too far away, they will have to be held accountable, and then, yes, history will not absolve them.

  38. Marrero, where is the wealth created by the people in their workplaces? It's not the people's fault that the currency they use to pay the people is nothing more than toilet paper. The first distortion that must be corrected is that state institutions and the excessive and redundant leaders are subsidized by the extremely low wages they pay workers. That is a very high political cost that will explode sooner rather than later.

What it will do is cause many people to reduce their internet use and lower Mexico's revenue. Each new measure is a bigger disaster than the last. My question is, who runs this country, or who are they running it for?

    • Son, the internet in Cuba is not bad because it arrives like that, but because here internally they limit it. The internet cable that arrives in Cuba has as much quality as the one that arrives in France, Mexico or any other country. What's going on? The internet is a very important communication tool, given the hypothetical case that an organized opposition emerged in Cuba, what would be its fundamental means to maintain this organization? In fact, they would organize themselves through social networks that have their base on the internet, so if there is a good network like the one that enters the country and the state knocks it down or limits it when events or demonstrations against the state occur, as it has done before, the evidence of its way of acting would be irrefutable, therefore the internet in Cuba will never be good. Also, another thing, the internet costs kilos, but we live in Cuba and we have a government that protects us so much and prays so much that the devil wants its children until he takes out its eyes.

Please, my humble opinion regarding the increase in the purchase of Etecsa Internet packages.

  47. As long as these changes do not hinder or harm citizens who only depend on their salary and do not have any type of income from abroad, then this change in measures would be welcomed. That is the first thing that should be considered, how not to further deprive those who do not have access to daily changes in the country.
I would not like these words to be misinterpreted, nor to be an encouragement to those who never agree with the revolutionary process, but I do want to think carefully about the needs of the people and not about external interests. We must always find a way to move forward without harming the population. Only in this way can we gain confidence, strength, loyalty, and unity within and outside the country.

  59. Mr. Marrero claims that ETECSA has stopped raising foreign currency as a market; it only receives foreign currency in batches from abroad. I ask, how many years has that company been around since its founding? Are we fools? At this point, it justifies the lack of supplies such as batteries, antennas, etc. We know the blockade exists, but didn't a powerful company like that have a prevention plan? And the huge profits or wealth obtained before the COVID-19 disaster? Where did all that wealth go? What has happened to our country? I suggest Mr. Marrero be a little clearer with what he says and analyze in depth the disaster that is being unleashed in our country: mass exodus, distrust of current politics and its ideological system. On the other hand, I ask all trained and intellectual people not to attack those ETECSA executives. Our country has suffered the consequences of the blockade throughout history. The rulers of that country, the United States, know very well that it is the ordinary Cuban who is suffering these consequences. Being Cuban and as Cubans, we should strengthen our culture, identity, customs, and idiosyncrasies and save what is ours and defend our own and our family. We Cubans are the ones who command, and if we disagree with what is being debated in that assembly, let us let them know.

The blockade truly affects us, but we have been suffering for years, but our guides, so to speak, have done nothing to get us out of the hole we are in. Their efforts have not been sufficient. In all countries of the world, there are limitations, but measures are always taken to move forward, and unfortunately, this will not be the case on our island. Each measure taken only further intensifies the blockade imposed by the American government, and who suffers is the people, not their leaders.

In Cuba, it's easier to drown the people with high costs. The millions of dollars invested in the tourism sector should be invested in communications, a critical infrastructure for any country, much more so for this one that is under siege by the US. It seems like a joke in bad taste that the people should pay for the mistakes of the company's poor management.

Who would continue filling their bank accounts, living like sheikhs, paying for the whims of their children and grandchildren (Sandro Castro, etc.) at the expense of the people and those with relatives living abroad?
But what about those who don't have relatives abroad and pay for their internet out of pocket? How do they manage?

  71. I think they can put international top-ups for unlimited internet like they have done before for 20 USD. This way, everyone who can can get their monthly top-up and at the same time make improvements to the infrastructure and try to check the antennas and put batteries in them so they work when the power outages occur, which are becoming more and more repetitive.

  72. With what connection?
Do we have connectivity available everywhere?
If there was a connection I would keep my mouth shut, it's fine that they do it but WE DO NOT HAVE A NETWORK CONNECTION
And what pisses me off is that during the times when most people are supposed to be studying or working, there is no connection.
but on weekends it's a different story
    I really don't understand

  73. To increase the price of a service, it must be of quality. I have reported the poor connection in Alta Habana for more than 4 months, month after month, and the response is that it has already been reported. What are they going to do? Continue to shamelessly steal from me.

    • Yes, brother, they will continue to steal the money of the working people, which is not enough for anything.
I have Nauta Home, and I can tell you that it only worked wonderfully in the first year. I'm tired of complaining because they don't solve anything. It's the fault of the water, the cables, the blackouts. It's their fault, not anyone else's. They have us restricted because this is a country of misery for the people and of tastes for its leaders.

  74. The reality is that ETECSA has lost its foreign currency reserves, and without foreign currency, you can't afford to pay for more bandwidth to provide internet, upgrade infrastructure, or buy batteries for antennas during power outages. Now, this measure is harsh on the low-income population. If it truly achieves the desired effect, it could significantly improve the quality of ETECSA's services in the medium term.

    • In my opinion, they should first improve the service, which is already terrible, and then raise the rates if necessary. I think that's how it should work so as not to inconvenience customers.

    • Excuse me, but you have more faith than the Pope. If all the profits received were for the exclusive use of the company, perhaps an improvement would be seen, but when the money is stolen by the government, it is impossible for this to advance.

    • Don't be naive, my friend, ETECSA is one of the companies that receives the most foreign currency from international top-ups. Nobody knows what they do with the money. It all belongs to them; that money ends up in other companies or other places that neither you nor I know about. What nobody knows is that the internet paid for in Cuba with Cuban pesos is currently of inferior quality to the one offered in USD.

  75. The first thing is to provide quality internet service, because you buy a package and it lasts a few days and then you go away without even using it because the phones don't connect with the power problem, and Nauta Home is a different story. We donated to my house for three months without being able to use it due to a power shortage. They're just inventing nothing to improve the average person. They're struggling.

  76. As I've already said, the average Cuban, who is the vast majority of Cubans, the majority of the Cuban people, who don't receive dollars, euros, or any other currency, always comes out worse and loses here. The Cuban regime does nothing to benefit the Cuban people.

  77. It's a total disgrace. The other day I lost hours of internet usage on my Nauta Hogar because of the power outages. Who pays for these lost hours of unused internet usage due to the outages? What is ETECSA's response to this?

  78. The first thing a company should do before raising prices is improve its service. Connectivity is poor and almost impossible at any time. It should also be said that an analysis should be done in some organizations that have excess staff without productive support. Finding money easily by raising prices is not what solves the problem because we also do not analyze people with low salaries, such as pensioners.

  79. We will have to stop using such an important and useful service, in fact, it is already expensive for its poor quality.
The good thing is that we are used to lacking everything.

  80. In what part do they say they are going to improve the connection for users who pay in whatever currency? I imagine that we workers can pay all of that with the salary that we professionals humbly earn.

  81. Always for the benefit of the humble and for the humble. What a lack of respect and humanity. Not to mention the poor service they provide.

  82. Everything is increasing, but I can't see anything that benefits workers whose salaries are in Mexican pesos. If they want to dollarize everything, start paying Cubans in dollars.

  83. In other words, internet access will be through the ration book. Improve the offerings and quality and stop making things more difficult. Don't you think what you're collecting is too little? We have the most expensive internet in the world in a country with the lowest wages in the world.

  84. Since there is no electricity service, we are using the internet for entertainment every day and they are already thinking of raising prices. What they should do is lower them since we are using it as television.

    • I'm really left cold. The only thing that saves us from blackouts is that, to top it all off, they're going to increase them. We don't all have the same economy.

  86. The first thing is to provide quality service. Second, don't compromise the service every time there's an emergency. And consider increasing the costs of the services provided. There are also other demands that need to be addressed, but these must be done within an appropriate framework.
