The Cuban government recently received some 470 tons of oil donated by Russia, something that will be a "relief" for vulnerable and affected sectors, according to the government. In an act of international solidarity, Cuba received today in Havana almost 470 metric tons of vitamin-enriched vegetable oil, as part of the collaboration between the Federación de Rusia and World Food Program (WFP) of the ONU.
This donation is intended to support vulnerable sectors and victims of natural disasters, they assured authorities in official media.
The delivery took place at the Loading and Unloading Distribution Center of the Ministry of Domestic Trade (Mincin), with the presence of Cuban authorities such as Victor Antola Madrazo, from the MINCEX, and Aracelys Cardoso Hernández, from the MINCIN, as well as the Russian ambassador to Cuba, Victor V. Koronelli.
Koronelli indicated that the donation comes from the Russian Ministry for Civil Protection, Emergencies and Disaster Management (EMERCOM), and reaffirmed Russia's commitment to the well-being of the Cuban people.
"We will continue to provide support to our sister country, Cuba, both through international organizations and bilaterally," they stated.
Russian oil donation for vulnerable people in Cuba
In addition to vegetable oil, the diplomat recalled that in 2024 Russia delivered emergency modules, medicines, water filters, rescue equipment and food like peas and sunflower oil.
The ambassador also announced that Two more donations will arrive soon, each one of 187 tons of oil, which shows that “Cuba is not alone”, Koronelli stressed.
For its part, Etienne Labande, the WFP representative on the island, described the Russian contribution as valuable, which represents the 32% of the funds for food security projects in Cuba.
William Díaz Menéndez, Director General of Collaboration of MINCEX, expressed the gratitude of the Cuban government for Russia's unconditional support, and highlighted the fundamental role of the WFP in the efforts to achieve food sovereignty.
The donation will be directed to victims of hurricanes Oscar and RafaelAs well as pregnant women and vulnerable people of the five eastern provinces of Cuba, contributing to bimonthly food module from Mincin and food prepositioning for emergency situations.

If the Minister could explain or give a concept of vulnerable
I repeat, that ministry makes no sense today. A general of the FAR handles it better because they have demonstrated logistics capacity and would avoid diversion of resources, among other things.
Well, that's a lot of tons of oil. Let's see if they don't get lost, like the tons of rice that Vietnam sent for the entire year to all Cubans. I hope they work cleanly and it reaches the people.
God bless the people of Cuba
Anyone with a salary, pension, etc., under 3000 pesos is considered vulnerable. Because the price of food increases tenfold.
I call for reflection from those responsible for framing the elderly who live alone and are being cared for by a family member and are themselves physically and motorically disabled. In addition to being visually impaired, they are 90 years old and have a retirement age of 1528. I don't know for what reasons, and I don't consider them vulnerable. Despite speaking with those responsible for this in the town and their explanation being that they have to be at home. Only in this case it is uninvited and impossible. I feel totally disappointed and dissatisfied with the term "vulnerability" in these cases. Ada L. Machado Ada
Donations must be distributed throughout the country because there are vulnerable people in all provinces, as well as elderly people and children in very difficult situations. The entire country has a vulnerable population. Be careful with that.
We are all vulnerable in general because there are people wrongly called vulnerable who receive dollars from abroad with their respective food combos and their cards full of MLC.
Vulnerable is the old person or the disabled person who lives alone, who does not receive anything from anyone, who does not have a credit card. MLC.
Don't show your face anymore.
The Cuban people are vulnerable, stop this hypocrisy.
Exactly, the concept of vulnerability is being used for the benefit of a few. That amount would be enough to distribute to all the elderly, children, and sick. It is known that in many institutions, the merchandise is diverted among the unscrupulous.
And the other vulnerable people in the other provinces of Cuba, I think that with that amount of oil they can get a bottle, even though there are many people who spend half their checkbook or pension just buying a bottle of oil. In the end, they say it's not enough and along the way, oil is left behind.
This is not enough for all the vulnerable people in Cuba. Everyone who lives on a pension is vulnerable, all the elderly are vulnerable, and everyone who works and earns less than 3 pesos is vulnerable. So, I don't know how they classify this condition of vulnerability in Cuba.
Likewise, in Cuba, all ordinary people are vulnerable. Children are increasingly thinner and do not grow. The elderly are dying of hunger, and those who earn a miserable salary, etc.
THAT IS WHAT IT IS
Do those receiving assistance fall into the vulnerable group? Thank you in advance for your response.
