Starting TODAY, Wingo is applying for visas for Cubans. The Colombian government remains silent.

Can an airline impose visa requirements on Cuban nationals? That has to be a government matter. No, but why isn't the official Colombian government communication publishing this new requirement, which has left hundreds of Cubans stranded while trying to connect in that country and continue on to Nicaragua?

To date, no official Colombian government website mentions Cubans needing a transit visa. However, they do require a tourist visa to enter Colombia for a short stay, and Wingo is "seizing on" this to require visas from Cubans. Since they don't offer connecting flights, only flights from origin to destination, Cubans should be aware that they would need an entry visa to Colombia.

Wingo He regretted that the passengers who purchased tickets on the island cannot fly due to the new visa requirement. The airline clarified that the requirements for international travelers in Colombia are established by the country's immigration authorities, not by the airline.

Wingo requires visas for Cubans starting today

Starting today, July 8, 8, Cuban passengers traveling to Nicaragua via Wingo Airlines must present a regular tourist visa, according to the company, which apologized for this inconvenience, clarifying that it was not imposed by them, but by the immigration authorities of the South American country.

“Because Wingo operates solely point-to-point and does not have connections, travelers of Cuban nationality must present a visitor visa when boarding your flight. This document must be issued by the Colombian consulate in Cuba," he explained.

What else will Wingo require? In addition to a visa for Colombia, passengers must show a confirmed return ticket issued by Wingo upon boarding the plane.

  1. I curse the mother of the director of Wingo, the wife of the director of Wingo, the airline workers and everyone who resembles her. It is an injustice and a contradiction between them and the embassy for not giving a concrete answer and at least since they were going to invent the lie they should have reached an agreement with the embassy, but what can be expected if they are most likely in cahoots with the disgusting Cuban regime?

  2. It's a breach on their part. When the ticket was purchased, this requirement didn't exist. The tickets sold must be honored. Until when will they oppress Cubans? There's no one to defend our rights.

  3. That's an injustice because if the tickets are already sold before the law is passed, they don't respect the tickets. There's no respect at all. And what response do you have for a sacrificed population?
