The United States will continue deporting Cubans: another flight with 89 illegal immigrants

The United States government will continue deporting Cubans. This Wednesday, it repatriated 89 Cuban migrants on a flight to Havana. A total of 89 irregular Cuban migrants (76 men, 12 women and one minor) were repatriated this Wednesday from the United States towards Cuba in a flight that landed at José Martí International Airport in Havana, as part of the bilateral migration agreements between both countries.

During the operación, a person was made available to the authorities of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), since at the time of his illegal departure from the country he was under conditional freedom, which could result in additional penalties for failure to comply with judicial terms.

This is the sixth repatriation flight from the United States so far this year, and joins another 20 return operations carried out from different countries in the region in 2025, totaling 676 migrants returned to Cuba.

Cuban authorities reiterated their commitment to regular, safe and orderly migration, and warned once again about the risks of illegal departures, both by sea and by land, which endanger the lives of those who try to emigrate irregularly to the United States.

Deportations of Cubans will continue from the United States

In recent months, an increase in the number of arrests of Cubans with I-220A status in the state of Florida, which has generated growing concerncupaction within the migrant community.

According to reports, several Cuban women were recently arrested after attending routine supervision appointments with immigration authorities, leaving their families in deep uncertainty. However, these are not isolated cases.

The detention of people with this immigration status, granted provisionally while their processes are resolved, have been happening for weeks and point to a possible tightening of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policies.

The main fear among those affected is that these arrests will end in deportation processes to Cuba, amidst an increasingly restrictive migration context and an unbearable economic situation in Cuba.
