In a turn of events worthy of international headlines, Havana's José Martí International Airport was recognized for its "ground efficiency" by one of Latin America's largest airlines, according to official sources.
The Havana station was recognized by the Panamanian company Copa Airlines, according to the officialdom, with the prize Gold Mile for achieving the "best productivity indicators in ramp operations."
The award, presented by this prominent international airline, also celebrated "excellence in ground handling, assessing efficiency, quality of service, and customer satisfaction," according to ECASA's expanded information on its official Facebook page.
Havana Airport expressed its gratitude for the award, adding that the recognition "places the Havana airport in a privileged position within the regional airport circuit, demonstrating that even under challenging conditions, it is possible to offer a high-level service."
Havana Airport and its Copa Airlines award: flights in April and May remain open
What are Copa Airlines' regular flight frequencies to Havana? According to the latest updates from ECASA on its social media, Copa Airlines operates four flights daily from the Cuban capital's José Martí Airport on this route between Panama and Cuba.
In addition, Copa Airlines maintains connections with the "Abel Santamaría" International Airport from the city of Santa Clara, a destination close to the Meliá and Iberostar hotels in Cayo Santa María. The Panamanian airline maintains three weekly flights, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, from and to Panama City.
This route not only improves connectivity to hotels in the northern keys, operated by chains such as Meliá and Iberostar, but also provides informal merchants in the center of the country with a more accessible route to the Colón Free Trade Zone, thus facilitating lower-cost imports.
