Cuba received a shipment of more than 20 tons of humanitarian aid from Belarus, destined for those affected by the natural disasters that struck the island last fall, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez announced Sunday.

"We thank the Government and people of Belarus for their support and for the solidarity shipment to Cuba of more than 20 tons of humanitarian aid, with food and medical supplies, for those affected by the hurricanes and the earthquake that devastated the country last fall," said Minister Rodríguez through the x social network

The shipment is part of international efforts to support Cuba following the impact of Hurricanes Oscar and Rafael, which occurred in October and November 2024, respectively.

These phenomena were compounded by two earthquakes of magnitude 6 and 6,8 recorded on November 17 in the southeastern region of the country, worsening the humanitarian situation.

Since then, the island has received multiple donations from governments, international organizations and non-governmental entities, in support of the restoration work.cuperation.

Food, medicine, donations to Cuba: Belarus, Vietnam and more

In mid-April, the donation of more food aid to Cuba was reported, this time from Vietnam.

Authorities from the Asian country visited Cuba and officially delivered a donation of 10 tons of Vietnamese rice, as part of efforts to mitigate the food crisis facing the island.

In addition, they announced that a second shipment containing an additional 1.500 tons of the same product will be sent shortly.

According to press reports, Vietnamese Deputy Finance Minister Le Tan Can led the delivery and expressed that this aid is part of his nation's commitment to solidarity with the Cuban people.

They are prodigious in their... they help Cuba, despite the aggressive policies against that country... and that doesn't mean they're just friends of the government... they also see a population that has suffered years of poverty and many needs. That's having a humanitarian mindset; not like the US, which believes only in attacking its neighbors...
