Venezuelan airline Conviasa and local airline Cubana de Aviación signed a cooperation agreement, opening up possibilities for more flights to Nicaragua, as the Venezuelan airline is responsible for this route with a stopover at Havana's José Martí Airport. More details will follow immediately.
During the third edition of the International Transport and Logistics Fair 2025 (FITL 2025), held in Havana, the state-owned airlines Conviasa and Cubana de Aviación signed a letter of intent for exchange and technical cooperation in commercial flights.
This agreement seeks to strengthen bilateral ties in the aviation sector, overcoming barriers imposed by the current international context, said the officialdom.
The signing took place at the Pabexpo fairgrounds, under the motto “Moving forward to the future”, with the participation of important Venezuelan authorities, such as Germán Gómez Larez, president of the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) and of Bolivariana de Puertos (Bolipuertos), and the vice president of Conviasa, General José Gregorio Márquez.
Conviasa and Cubana de Aviación agreement: more flights to Nicaragua?
The agreement between Conviasa and Cubana de Aviación opens new opportunities for air integration between Cuba and Venezuela, and among the topics discussed is the possibility of expand routes and frequencies, highlighting the growing interest in establishing more flights from Havana to Nicaragua, a strategic destination for both nations.
Although not confirmed, it is likely that more connections are being considered, given the demand for this route. Currently, Conviasa flights to Nicaragua from Havana in April operate this frequency. The fair also served as a platform for trade with more than 150 companies from 12 countries. The Venezuelan delegation included both public and private companies from the transportation sector, reinforcing the intention to expand regional connectivity and foster Latin American cooperation.
This new partnership between Conviasa and Cubana de Aviación projects an encouraging outlook for ALBA air transport, officials from both neighboring nations assured.
