MINCIN details distribution of basic food basket in Cuba: outlook until mid-June

Authorities from the Ministry of National Statistics and Census (MINCIN) detailed the progress of basic food basket distribution in these three Cuban provinces, including the capital, through the respective channels of several Cuban grocery stores. This is the outlook through mid-June. The distribution process of the standard family basket continues in several provinces of the country, with progress, partial deliveries and products still pending, according to updated reports from Villa Clara, Havana y Pinewood of the river.

Villa Clara: situation of the basic basket and cleaning

In the province of Villa Clara, the delivery of food and hygiene products shows partial progress:

  • Fortified milk (0-1 year): 4 bags have been delivered per child throughout the province.

  • Beans: 10 ounces per capita are being distributed; they have been delivered to Ranchuelo; the remainder is pending.

  • Peas: 190 tons pending to cover the entire province.

  • Sugar: Distribution has not yet begun; 537.4 tons are still required.

  • Rice: 2,111 tons pending to cover 7 pounds per consumer.

  • children's compote: 24 tons still to be received for the fourth round.

  • Cigars: : In distribution in Santa Clara; the rest of the municipalities are still pending.

  • Oil: Distribution corresponding to the month of May in 87 units.

  • Sugar (2 pounds): Present in 535 wineries.

  • Rice (7 pounds): Distributed in 548 units.

  • Children's mincemeat: Delivered in 596 units.

  • Sal Island: Present in 199 wineries.

According to MINCIN, despite the "logistical challenges", the distribution of the basic basket in Cuba progresses according to the schedules established by the government.

The lack of availability of some products is due to payment, transportation and storage problems, although authorities assure that the process will continue in stages to reach all families.
