The informal foreign exchange market in Cuba has registered this Thursday, June 12, 2025 a new historic record in the euro quotation.
The European banknote is located in 405 CUP, according to the most recent data published by elTOQUE.
This value represents an increase of 5 pesos compared to the previous day and marks the highest figure reached by the European currency since unofficial public records began.
Although the euro had already slightly exceeded the threshold of 2024 in May 400, CUP, that peak was punctual, ephemeral and did not reach this figure.
What we're seeing now is a consolidation of the euro above that barrier, in a context of increasing market volatility, limited availability of foreign currency on the market, and persistent distrust in the national currency.
The US dollar, on the other hand, remains stable at 375 CUP, unchanged since the beginning of the week.
For its part, the MLC It is quoted in 260 CUP, Whereas the Zelle, used as an alternative for electronic transfers from abroad, go up 2.5 CUP and is positioned in 387.50 CUP.
An increase in the Canadian dollar is also reported, which rises 5 pesos and reaches 250 CUP, possibly driven by a slight upturn in Canadian tourism or an increase in remittance transactions from that country.
