Blackouts scheduled in Havana this Wednesday due to national electricity shortage

The Havana Electric Company announced this Wednesday that scheduled power outages will be implemented due to the generation deficit of the National Electricity System (SEN).

According to official planning, several areas of the Cuban capital will be affected throughout the day with rotating outages in blocks.

Block-based impact schedules

The blackouts are distributed as follows:

  • Block 1: no electrical service from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

  • Block 3: affected from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

  • Block 4: interruption from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm

  • Block 2: no electricity between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm

  • Block 5: Blackout from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm

The energy company noted that these measures respond to the low availability of generation in the country, a phenomenon that has worsened in recent days and affects thousands of residential customers in different provinces, including the capital.

To keep the public informed, the Electric Company indicated that its Telegram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) channels are active. Additionally, the number 18888 remains open for direct inquiries through the Call Center.

    In Granma we hardly ever see electricity, maybe 3 hours of electricity throughout the day.
