Resumption of liquefied gas sales announced in Cuban provinces

As reported recently, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security approved a series of salary increases for teachers, researchers, and other employees in the education sector.

However, while the measure is appreciated, the amounts remain insufficient in the face of the rampant inflation plaguing the Cuban economy.

New payments for years of service

Since January 1, 2025An additional monthly payment is applied based on the number of years worked. The amount varies depending on whether the beneficiary is a teaching staff member or a member of the rest of the educational center's workforce. For example:

  • After five years of service, teachers receive 5 pesos; others receive 1.000.

  • At 10 years old: 1.400 pesos for teachers and 700 for others.

  • At 30 years old: Teachers earn an additional 3.000 pesos, while the rest receive 1.500.

From that point on, every two years, 400 pesos are added for teaching staff and 200 for everyone else.

This improvement includes those working in branch schools, training centers, and other recognized educational institutions, under the methodological supervision of state agencies.

The increase is legally part of the salary

The new payment will be considered part of the base salary, with all the legal implications that this entails. For teachers, the entire professional career is recognized as time worked, even if it was not continuous.

The situation of retirees remains critical

This increase contrasts with the reality of many retirees in the sector, whose pensions remain far below the current average salary, estimated at 5839 pesos according to the latest ONEI update.

Several retired teachers have expressed their frustration on social media at the lack of adjustments to their income: "After 40 years of work, I don't even make 2.000 pesos a month," one former teacher commented on Facebook.

  1. Good afternoon.
I think that before publishing something you should read the resolutions carefully and investigate the matter regarding Education.
1.- Education workers since January 24 receive this salary for years of service in the sector.
2.- The new resolution that has retroactive effect since January 2025, identifies a benefit for branch school workers in the sector, everything seems to indicate that they were not benefited in 2024. We must be well informed when publishing sensitive aspects like this.
Far from criticizing, it is good to recognize that things are going well.cupI am working to improve the salaries of sectors as sensitive as those mentioned.
It is true that those who retired before the increases before the 24th, which were significant, receive a very low pension and I think that we should study and assess the possibility of establishing a salary for everyone of at least 5000 Cup. It doesn't solve but it helps more than 1678 Cup, what my retired aunt earns from education.

  2. This refers to the healthcare workers who are working. They deserve it, just like all workers in the country. And what about retirees? Are we not going to get a raise?

  3. What a shame and lack of respect that they keep raising salaries in education and public health, and although they deserve it, they are not capable of raising them for simple workers such as cleaners, custodians and office staff. If they are not enough for doctors, even less for them, they do not consider anyone, everyone has rights, even if it is less, that is discrimination, that is why no one wants to work for the state. They do not realize.

  4. If the education workers and the rest of the professionals who have given their lives in our work end up with 1300.00, which isn't even enough for toilet paper, and then they say they're protecting retirees...

  5. The payment of education retirees has been stretched to the limit, given their meager pensions. People who worked in the sector for more than 30 years and don't even get a 2000 peso pension are an abuse. People who have never worked in the state sector receive almost 3000 pesos in aid; they have never contributed to the economy and earn more than a teacher who spent part of his life teaching.

  7. The Ministry of Social Security takes the trouble to read what we write. Take note and think about the retirees who today only receive 1500 or 1600. cupWe've worked for more than 40 years, today, the so-called "bulnerables" that can be bought with that pension. When will they think about us, or will it be after we're dead? Review it, and hope it's soon.

    • It's disrespectful to retirees of my generation, who earn 1600 pesos. We, who believed in the revolution and joined in all its tasks, worked with love and conscience to escape underdevelopment, are now suffering from need and hunger. I worked for 42 years and graduated from university when I was 23.

  8. Fair enough. Education personnel are responsible for training all of society's professionals, but it's insufficient. With current prices, you should earn at least 20,000 pesos to more or less cover your expenses. I don't think there's any need to raise salaries. We need more domestic production, subsidizing food producers, and controlling prices, otherwise we'll soon be carrying a sack of money to buy a loaf of bread.

  9. Hello, could the Ministry of Labor and Social Security conduct an analysis of the salaries we caregivers receive? Is there any possibility of a pay raise in our country? It's a very important job right now that requires a lot of dedication and commitment. Perhaps they could raise it a bit, thank you.

  10. Well, what you're doing is misleading and degrading. Anyone reading the headline thinks you're going to raise salaries. Please, you people's needs, don't raise false expectations. This is old news, why are you reporting it as if it's new?

  11. We, the retirees who got education going and retired in 2019 after more than 40 years of work, were given a minimum wage thanks to the restructuring adjustments. Today, my pension is 800 pesos, starting with 2164 pesos in the classroom at the Pedagogical Detachment after 70th grade.

  12. I have always agreed with the increase in these two sectors.
But my concerncupThe action is the following because they do not value the situation of the retirees who are paid a minimum wage and that is not enough for anything.
You work very hard for many years only to find that at the end of your working life you cannot have a good salary.
    This situation should be assessed.
    Thank you very much

  13. That's very nice, what I don't understand is that the workers of an education warehouse in a municipality now that they raise their salaries say that they don't belong to education but to the government of that municipality and they don't pay you the supposed increase.

  14. It's sad to know that you sacrificed so much for 46 years giving your best as a teacher evaluated by MB dedicated to the task of teaching and educating the new generations and today you receive a miserable retirement salary that is not even enough to buy a package of chicken. When are they going to think about us who give ourselves body and soul to teaching?

  15. I share the idea that the retirement benefits of those professionals who remained in teaching should be increased, including a special period where classrooms were left empty and these teachers continued to give their best. I really need the resolution from them. It is fair that their retirement benefits be increased.

  16. It is for the retirees of the sector to take into account: my mother worked as a nurse for more than 40 years and earns 2200 pesos. How sad that they forget about those people who gave everything at the time.

  17. Unfair!!
They forget about our retirees again.
I prefer that their pensions be increased to a decent amount.
Don't those who legislate see that one day they will be pensioners?

    Reply
  18. They don't resolve the issue of retirees earning less than 2000 because they don't want to. They should take a census of all of us who earn that amount and they will see that there aren't that many of us. They should compare them with those who earn more than 5000.

  19. Please, could someone please inform me if one day they will remember to increase the pensions for those of us who, in our working lives, did so much for this country.
I am a retiree earning 1528 pesos, and I can't even live on this for a week.
I hope for a response and that you take this into account.
    thank you very much

  20. They forgot about the teachers who taught those who are now receiving these warnings. It seems unbelievable to have contributed funds to social security for more than 45 years, and today that retirement checkbook isn't even enough for food. What's that?

  21. I am retired due to illness (laryngeal cancer) I worked for 40 years, orcupI have different responsibilities: teacher, head of cycle, territorial area director, municipal methodologist, deputy director of a mixed center. My illness was diagnosed as an occupational disease. I earn 2133 pesos, which isn't enough to buy medicine after having worked my entire life. Do you think this is fair?

  22. Good morning, it is necessary to clarify this salary increase because what you say is being applied since the months of November or December of the 2023-2024 academic year. This means that it is not a new increase and it is true what young people say that it does not benefit them at all and the retirees who earn a little more do not benefit them either, because just the medicines that we have to buy, including myself, almost everything that is earned is invested, therefore I think that all education workers need this disorienting orientation to be analyzed well. Thank you.

  23. Good morning, I have questions about this increase now!!! I don't know if it's been paid since last year. Which increase is it now, April 25th? 2025 Is this being discussed? Although a real increase would be to reach at least 10.000 pesos as a base salary and all the benefits of worker salary rights.

  24. This is uncontrollable, every day you walk the prices higher, until when will it go down or at least go up high and high salaries, not 1000, that is not enough for anything in 2 strips of medicines they went or in a pack of milk, because not even that costs

  25. It's truly sad to know that we've worked so hard and in the moments we had to go wherever we were assigned, which was never around the corner of the house, that we've put in so much effort and for what if it's been of no use to us. I think we shouldn't delay this situation any longer and we respectfully hope that we are respected and that this situation, which is truly quite uncomfortable, is resolved. Continue making your adjustments, but resolve our situation now. Or are you waiting for us to die without a solution? Until when? I await a response.

  26. They forgot the people who supported the revolution and its activities such as marches, receptions, Havana cordon, and guards. CDR of work and many others as well as equalizing the pensions in professionals and non-professionals, everyone receives the same, for example, I have 30 years of work as an industrial engineer, almost 20 in management and I receive 1578, today that figure represents a bottle of oil, this is how they recognized our work.

  27. I agree that health and education personnel should be encouraged, but we must also recognize the work done by other workers. The health sector, which has been working for public health for years, is not trained and also deserves recognition for its years of service.

  28. A teacher's salary should be one of the highest in the country, since they are responsible for educating and forming humanity. Without them, there would be no education or professionals in the country.

  29. And for health retirees, is it that only the education sector is valid? All retirees, regardless of the sector, should have an improvement. We are dying of hunger and need. Please analyze and stop raising salaries.

  30. What will we say, retirees who only receive between 1400 and 1700? cup monthly, and some less. Have they forgotten? Are they too old? Have they contributed nothing to this country? It is said that there will be no one left behind. Let us hope that the Lord has mercy on us. We are still alive; we have not died.

  31. I agree with the salary increase for teachers and medical personnel, but what about the other factors, that is, retirees not only from those sectors but in general, who earn an undignified retirement pension that does not reach 2000 pesos. In a current situation where prices are sky-high, I think they are forgetting that without those people who are retired today, we would not have been able to get this far.

    • Until when will the workers in the economic area of the municipal education departments be without seniority pay? According to them, we are from the government. It's a lie. That's why there are no workers in these areas due to the huge lack of respect.

  32. I think that is not the best measure; they raise salaries and prices continue to rise. The ones who suffer are the pensioners. If they want to rescue doctors and teachers, they should stimulate them in a different way, not with money. Provide monthly cleaning and food controlled by a card.

    • It's up to the State and its leaders to enforce price controls. They set price caps, perhaps not enough; but they aren't enforced. Why does this happen? In my opinion, they don't govern.

  33. BD something important should be studied is about non-teaching workers who have left education in search of a better salary and then have returned and have many years worked in education and as those workers returned, the years of service are not taken into account, which should not be the case without non-teaching staff who provide service in education it does not work because if the ones that will be available to facilitate the work of the teacher do not come, how will it work? It is a chain as support for teaching, it is vital.

  34. There is total indifference from the State to the need to increase the pensions of people earning between 1500 and 2500 pesos, which barely covers the basics of survival. I wonder. Where is the protection for the elderly who once fought with creative resistance? The retirees' plea. "I don't know."cucha ". It is not even talked about.
