In recent months, the country's gas supply situation has become increasingly tense.
In addition to the prolonged suspension of liquefied natural gas in several provinces, there have been constant disruptions to manufactured gas service due to breakdowns or maintenance work affecting thousands of homes.
This time, the Manufactured Gas Company announced that a complete service shutdown will take place in the municipalities of Playa and Marianao during the night of Friday, May 9. The interruption will last from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, and is due to the urgent replacement of a damaged section of pipeline on 51st Avenue, between 96th and 100th Streets.
Plant number 2 will be completely shut down
During those six hours, there will be no service in the affected areas, as production plant number 2 will need to be completely shut down. Authorities assert that this measure seeks to "guarantee the stability of gas service in the Playa-Marianao network" once the work is completed.
Official apologies and promise of stability
In its official statement, the state-owned company apologized for any inconvenience this nighttime outage may cause and reiterated its commitment to service quality. No temporary alternatives have been announced for customers, who should plan their use of resources in the event of a power outage.
Neighbors were already expecting new power outages
Residents in both areas had been reporting unstable gas flows since the beginning of the week. Some commented on social media that "the pressure is minimal" and that "the stove turns off by itself." For many families, the only option remains to resort to electric heaters, coal stoves, or improvising with their own resources.

Good afternoon, I'm sorry.cupsnteves that we have to cook with coal or electricity by our own means, all at super high prices and in the networks in other provinces there are gas bullets circulating at 20000, 18000 etc. conclusions the owner buys gas or coal, he doesn't eat because his salary doesn't cover that much...
We, the poorest, are reaching the end. This is the worst government that has ever existed in Cuba. I'm not afraid. I fight and work so that others can live well, regardless of the needs of the people.
