Information on power outages in Havana for today

The authorities of the capital government reported that this luneOn April 21, scheduled power outages will be implemented in several municipalities in Havana, due to the persistent generation deficit in the National Electricity System (SEN).

Block rotation throughout the day

According to the Havana Electric Company, the disruption began at 10:00 a.m. with the outage in Block #3. This will continue until 2:00 p.m., when the blackout for Block #4 will begin, scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

From that time on, the outage will move to block #2 and will last until 7:00 pm, when the impact will begin on block #1, ending at 10:00 pm.

The official statement indicates that the institution's social media accounts and the 18888 telephone line are active to provide additional information to the public.

Citizen unrest over uneven blackouts

Several citizens have questioned the apparent inequality in the distribution of power outages on social media.

Some claim to suffer power outages of up to 20 hours a day, while others only suffer three or four.

These differences have raised suspicions of favoritism or lack of oversight in the implementation of the schedule.

Other users expressed frustration with the lack of clear explanations about the areas included in each block, and demanded transparency.

They also expressed concerncupactions for the arrival of summer, anticipating an even more critical scenario if generation is not stabilized.

In recent days, Cuba has recorded some of its highest levels of electricity shortages of the year, with deficits approaching 1800 MW.

The shutdown of several thermal power plants, such as Felton 1, and the fuel shortage at dozens of distributed power plants have worsened the situation.
