Information on the basic basket and sealed donation items: rice, bread, sugar, oil, cigarettes and others

Authorities provided an update on the distribution of regulated products. At a press conference, officials from commerce, transportation, food, and other key sectors reported on progress, delays, and donations that directly impact consumers.

According to Edelva Marín Medina, coordinator of the Commerce Department of the Provincial Government of Santiago de Cuba, the distribution of rice for the month of April has been completed, including the additional pound for the following age groups (children up to 13 years old and adults over 60).

The delivery of May peas has also been completed, and distribution of June's sugar has begun. April's sugar was delivered through domestic production and a donation.

Thanks to this donation, a ship carrying rice and sugar arrived. With this shipment, a free 1 kg package of rice will be delivered to children ages 0 to 13 and those over 60, corresponding to May. In addition, the municipalities of Santiago de Cuba, Palma Soriano, and Mella will receive 1 kg of sugar per person, also free of charge.

The rest of the sugar for the other territories will arrive from another province in the coming days.

Oil, compotes, toiletries and baby milk

The distribution of compotes (fourth round of April) is already underway, as is the mincemeat distribution for children ages 0 to 13, which has been delivered in full.

Regarding sanitation, the March-April two-month period is being completed. Districts 3 and 4 are still short on toilet soap units, but work is already underway to complete their delivery. Distribution of 3 liter of rotating detergent has also begun, first in District XNUMX and the town of Siboney.

The June oil, originating from another province, also began to be distributed in District 3 of the main municipality.

Regarding milk for children ages 0 to 2, it is already being distributed and is guaranteed until June 30. Delivery of fish diets has also begun in Palma Soriano and Mella; Santiago de Cuba will follow shortly.

Bakery and flour supply

Jorge Luis Arce Ferrer, director of the Food Company, explained that the region depends on the supply of flour from the capital. Distribution is carried out on a rotating basis by municipality, depending on availability, with two trailers received every two days.

Despite the difficulties, bakeries must not close, and efforts have been made to offer alternative products such as tea or fruit. However, the quality of the bread is being affected by the shortage of sugar and fat, the official acknowledged.

Cigarettes and attention to the population

Four packs were distributed per consumer until May in all municipalities, except the main town, which is still completing March. In that case, the remaining supplies for April and May will be distributed gradually.

Authorities urged the public to stay informed through official media to learn the schedule and distribution points for each product.

  1. I'm 66 years old in Florida, Camaguey. My husband and I are two elderly people. We live alone. We're assessed and have cancer patients. We eat from SAF and haven't received anything. The social worker came. I went to the government to provide care for the population, and I'm still waiting for laundry soap at the store. I wonder, are we vulnerable? Yes or no?

  2. In the case of those over 60 or 65 who receive donations or sell products, which province do they belong to because in Ciego de Avila they only gave out laundry soap 1 or 2 times?

  3. In the municipality of Majagua, province of C. de Avila, children aged 7 to 13 are no longer children, and we don't know what category they are in, since they haven't received milk, yogurt, or meat for a long time, let alone meat.

  4. Regarding the distribution of food products, they don't clarify which province it is in, and in one municipality in Villa Clara, they haven't distributed any donations. The last thing that came was one pound of sugar per person, four pounds of rice, and cigarettes, nothing else.

  5. UNTIL HOW MANY MEATS WILL BE.
UNTIL WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LIVE ON HANDS?
WHILE HERE THE NOVEL RICH SELL EVERYTHING AT A VERY HIGH PRICE, THE OLD PEOPLE ARE DRYING OUT FROM MALNUTRITION AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO PRODUCE FOOD FOR THE PEOPLE AND EVERYTHING HAS BECOME A BARGAIN OF RESALE AT UNAFFECTABLE PRICES FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TO LIVE BADLY ON A MISERABLE SALARY OR A RUINOUS RETIREMENT.
WHO WILL PUT AN END TO THIS CUBA DISASTER?

  6. Well, children from 3 to 6 are no longer children, for God's sake, it's too much. When they start school, that's when they need breakfast the most. Please, there's no bread and no milk either. It's too much. Children's things have never been affected in Cuba... Stop it already...

    • If they were only children from 0 to 6 years old and children 7 years old and older, they are no longer children because I have two, one 9 years old and the other 11, and for about three years now they have not been given anything at all.

  7. Okay, and children between 3 and 6 years old don't drink milk, for God's sake? Aren't they children anymore? Why can't 10 days of nearly expired milk last almost 2 months?

  8. Good evening, I want to ask. Why do they know that the bread is of poor quality, that it lacks oil and sugar? They don't lower the price? I remind you that bread has always been of poor quality and I don't know of any price reduction. But this doesn't only happen with bread but with other products as well, and they don't lower the price. And this must be constant because day by day it loses QUALITY. This is called the capitalist mindset, where the first thing they have in mind is the most precious thing called THE CUSTOMER, because that's the one who gives them THE MONEY and the Prestige of their business, otherwise they'll go bankrupt. But here, nobody goes bankrupt. Whatever is bad or worse, they have to buy it because of the need. Besides, there's no one to complain to, neither an administrator nor an inspector. Something public must be made so that the customer can demand it at the moment. To achieve this, gentlemen, you don't have to go to France. You just need Political Will and, very, very especially, THINK LIKE PEOPLE, and this is called Conscience. Only in this way will we respond to our Sacrificed PEOPLE. Nothing said here has to do with the blockade, but rather with subjective issues. I hope you see the bright side of this question. These are times for doing, not saying. Best regards.

  9. My question is that I see that 1 lb of rice is offered to people over 60 years old. I would like you to explain to me where it is, and from when, please sds

  10. I'm from Granma, and when are they planning on distributing rice here? Cooking oil, which I forgot about the last time they gave it out. Cleaning products and liquid detergent have never been donated here like in Santiago. And they haven't distributed coffee in months. It seems this province has been eliminated from the country. How long do we have to wait?

  11. In Alamar, the May rice and oil have not been delivered, and the population is not informed about anything we retirees do, who live poorly with the checkbook we have so few after having worked so many years.

  12. WHY TALK? IT'S NOT WORTH WASTING MEG. EVERY DAY WE ARE WORSE. IT'S A DISRESPECT TO THE POPULATION. WHAT THEY GIVE US ARE CRUMBS THAT DO NOT COVER OUR DAILY NEEDS TO FEED OURSELVES PROPERLY.

  13. I just want to know what they did with the medical diets in Ciro Redondo, province of Ciego de Ávila. They don't give anything, not even milk or meat. I'm diabetic and I don't remember the last time they gave anything. They're not capable of prioritizing the sick. What a sad reality we have to live with.

  14. Very up-to-date information, with plenty of explanations that are accessible to all types of readers.
The only thing I worry aboutcupThe thing is that anyone who reads this daily news, if they are not Cuban, might think that only a few regions are important in the country: the capital, Santiago, Guantanamo, and Villa Clara.

  15. Rural madness is for me the one thing I know that local governments are going to solve the growing problems of the municipalities caused by decades of bad administrations at all levels, much less that bakeries can open offering other services for which they were not designed, one and for not having resources, the other, bakeries and confectioneries are so designed for this, not to invent, therefore the central government is the only one responsible today for not making bread or sweets for not hiring and guaranteeing the raw materials for it.

  16. Good morning, the only province that is not talked about is Granma. They don't say anything. It seems that the donations to this province are not going to arrive here. The directors don't inform us about anything. It's as if this province doesn't exist.

    • at the same time it motivates as it worriescupfor children from 0 to 13 years old and for older adults, when they should be concernedcupWe must take care of chronic retroviral patients who need milk, fish, and, in short, good nutrition, which they haven't had in their diet for a very long time. I demand that these cases, which do need government help, be addressed.

Cuba and Las Tuna, where it is located, there is a lot of talk about Santiago, who distributes this and that, but very little has arrived here. Please check carefully. Distribute equally to everyone.

With this way of contributing to the Norman family basket, the only thing I have observed is more misery, more exploitation and theft from the consumer, more reselling of those products that are assigned to the most vulnerable and even death by hunger because I have walked and what is being experienced here in my country (GTMO) is painful, it is necessary that the high leaders take action on the MATTER

  20. And when is it time to deliver food in Havana City? May and June are almost over, and only 1 lb of sugar per person
There's no economy to afford to eat poorly, buy medicine, and pay for water, electricity, etc., especially for retirees.

  22. I would like them to make known why they only prioritize milk for children aged 0 to 2 years and the other children do not have the right to consume the milk that corresponds to them. There may be a crisis but they only give priority to that specific group and those aged 2 and older do not get anything.
