The Ministry of National Institute of Statistics (MINCIN) reports on the distribution of basic food basket products in various Cuban provinces.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade (MINCIN) updated this Tuesday the distribution status of products in the standardized family basket in several provinces across the country. The situation varies significantly from province to province, with partial, pending, or completed deliveries, depending on the product and destination.

Camagüey begins distribution after arrival of rice ship

In Camagüey, the arrival of a ship to the port of Nuevitas with more than 8 tons of rice allowed for the start of the delivery of 9 pounds of rice outstanding (March 2 and April 7), in addition to ensuring social consumption. Shipments were also sent to Las Tunas and Ciego de Ávila.

RJ Sánchez Long, director of the Wholesale Food Company in Camagüey, explained that rice for the month of May and beans for April are still pending.

The distribution of peas planned for January through July has also been completed, as has the salt corresponding to May. Sugar is being distributed in municipalities such as Najasa, Santa Cruz del Sur, and Sibanicú. Baby food has partially arrived. Coffee has not been defined in the current policy, and cigarettes began distribution late.

In Havana there are delays in compotes, salt and oil

In the capital, the May compote is pending in Plaza and Cerro, while the textured picadillo for children has yet to arrive in several municipalities such as H, Diez de Octubre, San Miguel, Marianao, and Arroyo Naranjo.

The salt is distributed by household composition, with quantities ranging from 1 to 4 kg depending on family size. It has already run out in Regla, but is still being distributed in San Miguel del Padrón, Plaza, Centro Habana, and Old Havana.

By June, the compote arrived in Regla and is being distributed in San Miguel. The oil distribution for June and July has only begun in Cotorro. Milk for infants and children with special diets has begun: 20 days of powdered milk for babies aged 0 to 1 year, and 10 days for children aged 1 to 2 years, thanks to WFP donations.

Pinar del Río distributes oil, peas and salt

In Pinar del Río, the June and July peas are distributed to 195 warehouses. Medical diets and eggs for pregnant women and people with chronic illnesses are also available.

The May oil is already being distributed in the main municipality. Deliveries of sugar, rice, baby food, and salt are also ongoing. Coverage reaches hundreds of units, although some are still awaiting delivery.

Las Tunas advances in beans and peas

Most warehouses in Las Tunas have already received the May beans and June peas. However, Puerto Padre is experiencing delays: only 48 warehouses have beans and 73 have peas, while 85 and 60, respectively, are still pending.

Holguín: rice, compotes, and donations delayed

In Holguín, the distribution of March and April rice is progressing, but more than a thousand warehouses have yet to receive their deliveries. The 7 pounds of rice for March are in 1053 warehouses; 308 are still waiting. In April, only 114 warehouses have received 3 pounds, while 1247 remain without the product.

Rice by age group is also lagging. In March, it reached 878 warehouses; in April, only 54. Children's compotes have been partially distributed (12,2 tons), with 21,3 tons still pending.

The pea harvest for April and May has already concluded. Cigarettes have been distributed, except for the municipality of Urbano Noris. The June oil has reached 450 stores, leaving 911 pending.

Second-quarter salt is severely delayed: only 221 warehouses received it. Pasta and sardines donated for children and seniors over 65 are also experiencing delays. The sixth round of WFP rice, legumes, and cooking oil for vulnerable people continues, although it is partially pending in Holguín.

  1. I don't know, around here they say one thing and then do whatever they want. The salt they are giving out at my winery, 1892 in El Moro Arroyo Naranjo, only came, according to the winemaker, salt in one batch, and that was the same thing the last time they gave out salt. They announced salt for three months, and it was the same here, and the same thing happens with other things.

  2. What is happening with the municipalities of Cuenfuegos? They have not distributed complete rice for a long time, and coffee has not been seen in the municipalities this year.

  3. and in granma where we have gone 3 months without seeing rice and other things through the ration book or is it that granma does not belong to cuba or we do not have rights like the other provinces until when are they going to ignore us, they do not give us anything not even for Santiago or for Nuevita and then they do not want the people to do or say but you are the ones to blame for everything that is happening until when do we have to go through so much hunger and misery because do not you remember granma de Guisa where we have gone more than 2 months without distributing anything most of the time the MINCI is closed because they do not have merchandise for the people leave the preferences send all the merchandise that you owe us we no longer have where to get it for private purchases while many provinces give it all to you Guisa does not receive anything. (Until when)

  4. Everything about the basic food basket in Santiago de Cuba is a LIE. They never say anything. Nothing is clear. They misinform the population so there is no clarity or control over the little they give, or else old information, nothing updated. HOW DISGUSTED WE ARE WITH OUR LEADERS AND OFFICIALS. THANKS TO THE MERCY OF GOD, WE ARE SURVIVING. GOD BLESS YOU.

  5. Today, all of Cuba knows the limitations, but they don't say anything about rice in Havana. Today, prices are impossible to pay for, for the vast majority of the population. We are affected by water, transportation, and electricity, but the majority of the people say, "No, not with rice."

  6. I'm worriedcupAccording to this information, the province of Matanzas is never mentioned and I believe we are still part of Cuban territory and, like all provinces, there are delays and problems, Idanis.

  7. In the tunas they only say they announce lots for the tunas and peas and beans but they owe us rice for the months of March, April, May and June and they don't explain anything, they don't inform the people properly.

  8. The current status of the distribution of food basket products in the province of Ciego de Ávila is not mentioned. Based on this information, in my opinion, there is a lack of organization, uniformity, and control in the distribution of products by province and municipality. All of this affects the general population, with no one apparently putting things in order.

  9. And when it's time for rice for Santiago de Cuba and the municipalities, what happens that they exclude it? Explain that. I'm from the palm and it hasn't arrived here, nor sardines or anything, and don't even mention bread.

  10. I would like more detailed and precise information regarding the distribution of cigars and tobacco in Santiago de Cuba, mainly in districts 3 and 4, since the distribution of cigars has been pending since the end of last year. I would also like more information regarding oil and other basic food products.
