Currency exchange offices outside of these locations will not provide services, according to the official announcement. The measure further limits access to the formal foreign exchange market for the Cuban population, most of whom rely on the informal market to obtain foreign currency.
The network of Exchange Houses (Cadeca) reported that this Friday, April 18, 2025 Only offices located in hotels, ports, and airports will provide services. This was announced by the state entity in an image released through its official channels.
The announcement does not specify the reasons for the decision or whether it is a temporary measure or part of a structural change.

Official purchase rates today
In a social media post, Cadeca also shared the current exchange rates for this Friday. The list shows purchase prices, without specifying the selling rates, suggesting that foreign currency is not being sold to the public.
These are the official purchase rates in Cuban pesos (CUP):
US Dollar (USD): 109.20000
Euro (EUR): 132.25368
Pound sterling (GBP): 154.29402
Canadian Dollar (CAD): 83.98874
Swiss Franc (CHF): 141.73516
Japanese Yen (JPY): 1.22214
Mexican Peso (MXN): 5.88067
The published values indicate a significant gap with respect to the informal market, where the dollar exceeds 360 CUP and the euro is around 375 CUPThe gap reflects a lack of sufficient official supply to meet the population's demand.
Only tourists and travelers with access
By restricting services to locations such as airports and hotels, Cadeca concentrates operations in areas linked to tourism and international travel. For many Cubans, this means the impossibility of accessing currency exchange through legal channels.
The message has drawn criticism on social media, where users point out that access to foreign currency for ordinary citizens continues to be restricted, further driving up prices on the black market.
At this time, there is no official information on when currency exchange offices will reopen in the rest of the country.

This doesn't affect Cubans in the slightest, since no one sells dollars in a chain. You have to be an abnormal person or arrive from abroad without ties to Cuba for someone to exchange their dollars there. Therefore, Cadeca used to sell a few dollars (from some place), now even fewer.
In this country, we don't pay with dollars. Thanks to the US, we can get them. It's sad to have to spend them in Cuban stores where prices are arbitrary, and in the airports, not to mention. SPEECHLESS.
