A power outage at a thermoelectric plant will cause new blackouts in Cuba.

This afternoon, at 13:53 p.m., the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant in Matanzas unexpectedly went out of service. This, combined with a group of thermoelectric plants undergoing maintenance to ensure the summer, means that the reserves for operating the national electricity system are insufficient, according to the Electric Union.

This situation will cause service disruptions during peak demand times.

Work is underway continuously to return the Guiteras thermoelectric plant to SEN operation.

Measures were adopted to reduce consumption in the public sector. Under these circumstances, saving and rationally using energy in our homes becomes even more important, the note concludes.

The Matanzas Electric Company had reported the impact on its social media:

Dear customers, we are hereby informed that, following the closure of the Antonio Guiteras Power Plant and the Energas Varadero Plant, power service disruptions are expected due to a generation capacity deficit.

The current planning by blocks and schedules is maintained.

  1. The truth is that they don't have money for fuel and they don't do anything to solve it, it's a lack of respect without leaving anything inside me, they don't turn off the current, if they felt it in their own flesh they would solve the problem once and for all, it's that simple.

  2. That's no longer credible, or what's being done isn't quality-wise. Less than a month ago, it happened in this same unit and they said the same thing. What's the truth?
