The descendants of Spaniards in Cuba continue to face significant difficulties in obtaining Spanish nationality through the Law of Grandchildren. Although some reports indicate some improvements, the reality is that the long wait and bureaucratic obstacles continue to be common problems.unes.
In Cuba, the process of obtaining credentials and legalizing documents is marked by delays. Attorney Estela Marina Pérez goes further, suggesting that corruption and mismanagement in Spanish consulates are serious obstacles.
He mentions that appointments have been scheduled at extremely inconvenient times, such as 3 a.m., and that the lack of basic materials such as paper has made it difficult to issue the necessary certificates.
To address these issues, the Aristeo group, which specializes in Spanish nationality procedures, has proposed donating paper to facilitate the issuance of documents, although they have not yet received a response from the authorities.
Documentation actions and formal complaints
The Aristeo group has also traveled to Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, to obtain baptismal certificates and other essential documents proving the applicants' Spanish ancestry.
The Association of Spanish Descendants in the World has filed formal complaints with the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Transparency in an effort to resolve these issues, although they have not received definitive responses so far.
Uncertainty about the extension of the Democratic Memory Law
Despite rumors about the possible signing of the extension of the Democratic Memory Law, nothing official has yet been published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). This lack of confirmation and the long waiting times exacerbate the situation for descendants of Spaniards.
Estela Marina, director of the Aristeo Group, recommends that applicants submit their credentials as soon as possible to ensure their applications are accepted and processed. "An open application is one that can be saved because it was submitted within the deadline," explains Marina.

For the Aristeo Group. I need to know why all my nephews and nieces who have applied for the Grandchildren Law have had it approved and have lived in Spain for years, but I have a niece who submits everything required and they are denying it to her. I need your help please. Thank you.
Good afternoon, I have a question. I submitted my Spanish citizenship application in PDF format. I'm waiting for the credentials. The deadline is now October 31st. What's the status of my case?
After the credentials, what is the next step? And if the delay is the same as waiting for credentials?
After the credentials, what's the next step? Are they as time-consuming as this one?

Well, I have been in Spain for 9 years and because of someone they filed my documentation. Now I have been fighting for 3 years.cupI erased my documentation and nothing, and I've been working, registered, and I still can't. That makes me sad that in a country like Spain they can't deactivate a document, all because of not knowing and because of people that I don't even know how to call them.
I'm happy if they give me a chance. It would be helpful to Spanish education if I have a Master's degree in Educational Sciences.
It takes a long time. I've been here for almost 6 months because there is so much paperwork that it's not easy, and adding the conditions regarding the current one when it leaves, you have to wait if it comes and there is time for them to attend to you.
Good morning. The Elmtomomy folio is also worth reclaiming, and there's an agonizing backlog. We need to see the long-awaited progress.
