In recent hours, a significant increase in notifications to migrants who entered legally through the CBP One app has been reported, announcing the cancellation of their parole. The revocation also means the loss of work permits, leaving hundreds of families in legal limbo.
DHS confirms the start of cancellations
Journalist Mario J. Pentón confirmed in a live broadcast that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has begun en masse revoking paroles granted through CBP One.
“It’s official today,” Penton said. “DHS is now exercising its discretion to terminate his parole.”
Some of those affected have already received formal notifications. One of the most striking statements was: “It’s time for me to leave the United States”The document warns that those who do not leave voluntarily could face legal action and expulsion.
Testimonies of Cuban migrants
Dozens of Cubans have contacted Pentón in recent hours to report that upon reviewing their I-94 forms, they discovered their paroles have been revoked or are about to expire in a matter of days.
A woman tearfully recounted: “My parole was valid until 2026. I checked today, and it says it expires the day after tomorrow. What will happen to my children, to our work permit?”
Another Cuban migrant, a mother of three, explained that she waited a year in Mexico for her CBP One appointment, refusing to surrender illegally, and now feels it was all in vain. “I entered legally, requested asylum as required, and suddenly I no longer have parole,” she said. “I filed taxes, I did everything correctly. If they take away my permit, I'll end up on the streets.”
Cancellation affects work permit
Penton noted that revoking the I-94 automatically means losing the work permit, since the two are linked. This puts many families in an extremely vulnerable situation.
In the live comments, a Cuban woman stated that when she checked her status, she discovered her parole would expire the next day. Another person mentioned that her Social Security number had also been deactivated.
DHS defends the measure as legal compliance
In an official response sent to Mario Pentón, a DHS spokesperson stated that this decision is part of the government's commitment "to protecting our borders and national security."
Additionally, the revocation notice clarifies that all benefits associated with parole, including employment authorization, will be revoked. It suggests using the CBP One app to coordinate voluntary departure, warning that remaining without status could result in civil and criminal penalties.
Those affected without judicial support, for now
Unlike humanitarian parole, whose elimination was halted by a federal judge, there is currently no active lawsuit protecting those who entered through CBP One.
“With CBP-1, there hasn't been any legal initiative so far,” Pentón warned, “and the government is clearly already taking action.”
The total number of people affected remains unconfirmed, although it is estimated that around 900.000 migrants have entered via this route since the app was launched.
What can Cubans do now with CBP One?
Pentón recommended that those who have not yet submitted their asylum application do so as soon as possible. For Cubans who have already served a year and a day in the United States, applying for the Cuban Adjustment Act remains a safe route.
The journalist also advised immediately checking Form I-94 to verify the validity of the parole. "It tells you if it has already been revoked or when it expires," he explained.
For those who have already initiated their residency and work permit applications under the Adjustment Act, the impact would be less severe. However, those who only have parole as legal support are at risk of becoming undocumented in the coming hours or days.
Tension and worrycupaction on social networks
During the broadcast, Mario Pentón even faced hostile comments from users who downplayed the situation. "What I'm doing here is making what's happening visible. I warned about it from day one," he responded.
Other viewers expressed their despair upon learning live that their permits were no longer active. “I'm so nervous, my blood pressure is up. If they take away my job, I'll be homeless with my two children,” one user wrote in real time.
A precedent for more revocations?
This repeal marks a dramatic change in the handling of land entry. Although the CBP One program was a legal alternative during the Biden administration, the DHS's new approach under President Trump has begun to dismantle many of those policies.
The case could open the door to further restrictions and mass deportations, especially for those who have not yet filed a formal asylum or residency application.

Those who voted for Troup and the mass deportation without considering the consequences for their families and friends are now forming a U.S. defense committee to save their own skin.
It's a shame to see how they bully their fellow countrymen to save their own skin.
