"This won't stop, it's just starting, we'll keep deporting": Trump will give a sum of money and an air ticket to those who self-deport.

President Trump's spokeswoman lashed out at a federal judge after the suspension of the parole ban. The government is proposing to pay migrants to leave.

Criticism of the judge and promise of more deportations

The White House reacted harshly to Judge Indira Talwani's ruling in Boston, which halted the elimination of humanitarian parole for Cubans, Venezuelans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans. "Another crooked district judge is trying to block the administration's mass deportation efforts," Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for President Trump, told Fox News.

According to the official, the objective remains clear. "We will continue to focus on deporting as many people as we can," she stated, reinforcing the executive branch's stance despite the judicial setback.

Trump suggests paying undocumented immigrants to leave

That same day, the president himself took advantage of an interview on Fox News to launch a surprising proposal: paying undocumented migrants to voluntarily leave the country. "We're going to give them some money and a plane ticket," Trump said, adding that if they are "good" people, they could return legally later.

Although the idea is not yet defined, it points to a new strategy to reduce the migrant population without the need for mass detentions.

Pressure on migrants with parole and I-220A

The statements come as the government redoubles efforts to persuade migrants to leave the country on their own. Among those affected are those who entered through the parole program—some 530.000 since its inception—as well as those holding Form I-220A, a form of parole for those who crossed the border without authorization.

In total, there are an estimated 14 million undocumented people in the United States. Between 2023 and 2024 alone, more than five million arrived, according to data from the Migration Policy Institute.

Application to “self-deport”

In this context, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) launched CBP Home, a new online tool where migrants can declare their intention to leave the country. “Self-deport now or face the consequences,” CBP warned on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Border Patrol Chief Michael W. Banks also joined the campaign: “Last chance to self-deport on your own terms. CBP Home is available now. If you don’t, DHS will remove you and prohibit you from returning.”

Although more than 5.000 people have already registered, many reject the idea. Many fear what awaits them in their home countries, saying that neither the money nor the ticket are worth the risk of returning.

Restrictions on social benefits for migrants

In addition to threats and proposals for voluntary departure, Trump signed an executive order this week to limit immigrants' access to Social Security benefits. The measure, titled "Preventing Undocumented Aliens from Obtaining Benefits Under the Social Security Act," excludes those in the country illegally.

The text orders various agencies to coordinate to prevent unauthorized immigrants from accessing public funds. It also requires strengthening oversight with federal assistant prosecutors and auditing potential irregularities, including payments to deceased individuals or those over 100 years of age.

In particular, the Medicare and Medicaid programs will be subject to special scrutiny. Many Cubans with parole had access to them since arriving in the country, and now they could be left unprotected.

Tougher oversight and possible sanctions

The order also instructs the Social Security Commissioner to evaluate whether monetary penalties should be reinstated against those who improperly receive benefits. If determined necessary, he must immediately restart the program or propose regulatory changes.

The government's offensive seeks to send a clear message: the time for tolerance is over. For migrants, the dilemma is increasingly stark: leave on their own or face forced deportation.
