Cimex.SA Corporation has just announced in an official statement its decision to close the recently opened Cuatro Caminos Market in the Cuban capital, citing the need to make some adjustments to the establishment.
"The management of CIMEX Corporation's Cuatro Caminos Market requests its customers' understanding in suspending its services," the CIMEX statement states.
While no further details were provided, it was made clear that immediate intervention is needed at this iconic Havana store: "Given the massive turnout, adjustments are necessary for the initial opening. The Cuatro Caminos Market will reopen its doors next week," the statement concludes, with Ania Peralta de Armas, General Manager, expressing her gratitude in advance for the understanding of the residents.

Of course, this closure is striking, coming just hours before the reopening of a building that took several months of work and was one of the most significant architectural works inaugurated in the Cuban capital's half-millennium of history.

It has 51 cash registers distributed in various businesses, including grocery stores, florists, home improvement stores, and more. Another unique feature is the combination of state-owned and private offerings within its space.

A few days ago, many Yoruba practitioners predicted that the building would have an unfortunate future after a giant Elegguá located nearby was destroyed as part of the reconstruction efforts.
