This morning, the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) announced to its prepaid mobile phone customers that starting today, October 9, 2019, they can request access to the 4G/LTE network.
To enjoy this service, customers must have a mobile device that supports 4G – LTE at the 1800 MHz frequency and have a USIM card which can be purchased, if you do not have one, at ETECSA Commercial Offices for the value of 3 CUC.

To enable access to the 4G service, you must send, from your mobile device (Phone or Tablet), a free SMS to 2266 with the text: LTE, once the service is enabled on your number, you will receive a confirmation message.
The company reminds customers that access to the 4G/LTE data network will only be possible if they are located in an area with this type of coverage.
To date, fourth-generation 4G/LTE mobile technology is present in 11 areas of the country, distributed across the following provinces: Havana, Matanzas, Mayabeque, Artemisa, Camagüey, Ciego de Ávila, Holguín, Granma, Las Tunas, Guantánamo, and Santiago de Cuba.
It is also reported that the remaining territories will be incorporated in the coming months, thus expanding the 4G/LTE coverage area throughout the country.
