The Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) has publicly announced the launch of a promotion consisting of a permanent 5 percent discount For all customers who make their telephone service payments through the Cuban app Transfermóvil.
At the Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV 2019), the Cuban entity launched a promotion for the Transfermóvil app service. To promote the use of this app, ETECSA announced a promotion consisting of a permanent discount for all customers who pay for telephone services through this app.
The promotion stipulates that customers will receive a 5 percent bonus on any payment they make through Transfermóvil.
Payments made by ETECSA customers that will receive the bonus include transactions such as: mobile top-up, Nauta account top-up, and payment of landline telephone bills.
This was explained to the press by Héctor Luis Mora Echavarría, Director of Content Management for the Commercial Vice Presidency.
"In the case of the telephone bill, once paid, it arrives to the customer the following month. In this case, the customer will be able to verify on the bill that the 5 percent discount was actually applied."
"In the case of the other two, the user will receive the bonus on their transaction when making the payment."
From # FIHAV2019 we announce:
Starting today, a 5% discount will be applied to payments made by #Transfermóvil to the services:
✔️Mobile top-up and micro-top-up.
✔️Recharge Nauta.
✔️Payment of the telephone bill.
And a new version will be available soon. #CubacelOnline pic.twitter.com/QU3d3P0ZB1— ETECSA (@ETECSA_Cuba) November 7, 2019
Is this decision part of the telecommunications company's strategy to offer some benefits to customers in an effort to attract more customers?
In this regard, the following statements were made by Héctor Luis Mora Echavarría, Director of Content Management for the Commercial Vice Presidency:
"ETECSA truly has a strategy to position Transfermóvil as a payment channel, our flagship channel in this transition toward e-commerce. We're heading in that direction, with the intention of increasing scale, the number of users using the app, and the feasibility of the options it offers."
"That's why this discount on ETECSA services translates into a rate reduction. We'll also be gradually adding other services to Transfermóvil, so customers choose our payment channel."
This decision by the organization undoubtedly reflects the rest of the country's computerization processes. How has Transfermóvil evolved since the app's inception?
"Transfermóvil, as a pilot project, was initially more focused on banking services. Naturally, as an application developed by ETECSA, we began incorporating company services and other public services that provide customers with easy payment options through e-commerce. Currently, we have more than 400 users, despite the limitation of bank access. We continue to gain followers with the application, and that is precisely our main objective. In the latest update, we launched new online payment services, which would be a step toward e-commerce with third parties, involving entities such as CIMEX, Cinesoft, and others that will surely join soon."
"It's very likely they will. The keys to success will lie in the strategies designed by the company, under the supervision of its president, Mayra Arevich, and vice president, Tania Velázquez, at Expocuba this Thursday, in addition to the increasingly broad spectrum that Transfermóvil aims to cover, heading toward consolidation within the country's future e-commerce landscape."
