This significant improvement was announced by the company's director, Jesús Aguilar Hernández, who highlighted the importance of this renovation to strengthen the region's electricity supply.

The Antonio Maceo Thermoelectric Plant is a crucial part of the National Electric System (SEN), and its units have an installed capacity of 95 megawatts (MW) each. However, in reality, three of these units have only been contributing 50 MW to the SEN, while Unit 5 has been generating 75 MW. The successful completion of the rehabilitation of this unit is encouraging news for the entire region, as its incorporation will significantly improve supply capacity for the remainder of August, when electricity demand tends to increase considerably.

The induced testing process and the start-up of Unit 6 began last night.unes, generating around 40 MW in this initial phase. According to Aguilar Hernández, the goal is to reach 90 MW, and this figure is expected to be achieved throughout the week. The rehabilitation was carried out by crews from the Power Plant Maintenance Company, as well as personnel from the Antonio Maceo Power Plant itself. A notable feature of this rehabilitation is that the vast majority of the materials used were domestically produced.
