If you are a foreigner planning to travel to the island as a tourist, it will be very beneficial to know everything possible about how to connect to the Internet in Cuba.

The first thing you should know is that you'll need to purchase a card from the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA), which you can get at any of ETECSA's commercial offices. With one card, you'll be able to connect for one hour, which costs 1,50 euros. CUC (freely convertible currency).

You also have the option of purchasing a 5-hour card for €7,50. This isn't exactly a less expensive option than five 5-hour cards, but it will save you a lot of waiting time to buy the cheaper cards.

In ETECSA's own commercial offices.

To connect to the Internet in Cuba with your ETECSA card, you must scratch the back of the card, where you will find the user code and password you must use. You can then connect to the ETECSA network, open your browser, enter your codes, and from that moment on, you will have an Internet connection.

It's also important to log out of the internet after you're done. To do this, it's best to leave the browser's login tab open and click "log out."
