This seismic event is the 12th in 2024 that has been felt by the Cuban population.
Citizens in the affected provinces have been alert to any aftershocks or changes in seismic conditions in the region.
Although the phenomenon caused concerncupation in the residents of the impacted areas, reports indicate that there have been no major impacts.
Eastern Cuba is one of the most seismically active areas in the country, due to its proximity to the Oriente Fault, which marks the boundary between the Caribbean and North American tectonic plates.
Seismological authorities continue to monitor activity in the region and urge the public to remain calm in the face of possible aftershocks, although none have been reported as of this writing.
These types of events, although moderate, often generate alarm in communities, especially in Santiago de Cuba, which has experienced several seismic tremors in recent years. Monitoring continues to assess any changes in seismic activity.
