However, Díaz Velázquez also pointed to persistent challenges in distribution cycles, such as delays in timely availability of inventory and difficulties with transportation.
The minister explained to the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that, although the first five pounds of rice will arrive in all provinces in installments, Camagüey and Las Tunas will have to wait for a third ship to unload the seven pounds.
The Vietnamese government donated rice, allowing for the free delivery of two pounds in Guantánamo, one in Artemisa, and one in Granma. Díaz Velázquez highlighted the availability of pea inventories, ensuring deliveries for January and February in several provinces, with the mills completing distribution in February.
The minister announced the distribution of 20 ounces of beans for February and March, as well as the delivery of products such as oil, coffee, chicken (excluding rural areas, distributed quarterly), compote, and salt. Sugar is facing difficulties and its distribution will depend on the sugar mills during the harvest, while its transportation is being organized and guaranteed in Havana and other territories.
Díaz Velázquez also reported that the cleaning process will be completed and food packages will be delivered to vulnerable people, pregnant women, and underweight children.
