The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced in its official digital portal, the establishment of a new strategy, which has been called eProcessing, or in other words, electronic processing of applications.
The goal of this electronic application processing strategy is to streamline the agency's transition to a digital operating model. To this end, eProcessing will provide a complete digital experience, encompassing everything from filing a case; communicating with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; to receiving a final decision on a case.
This new technological approach will enable the expansion of online application submissions.
Initially, business and leisure visitors to the United States, as well as students, have the option of submitting applications for extensions of stay in the United States online, in order to extend their stay in the United States. According to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, other categories for additional applications are planned for the future.
eProcessing is a strategy that connects previously disparate technology systems within U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to optimize decision timeliness, enhance transparency in the application process, and streamline the availability of online application submissions for all immigration processes.
Each year, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services receives more than 8 million immigration applications. Improvements in the technology used by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will enable more applicants to file their cases online.
In the words of L. Francis Cissna, Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services: "One of my priorities is to accelerate the modernization of our nation's legal immigration system." "eProcessing modernizes USCIS's work to create a paperless solution that is more effective for applicants, our officers, and the agencies that work with us."
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will establish official digital immigration records thanks to this completely modernized approach to immigration applications. From application to decision, eProcessing will provide U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officers with more streamlined access to applicant data. Applicants, in turn, will benefit from a more efficient and expedited process.
Form I-539 applicants can confirm their eligibility to file online at uscis.gov/i539online
You can file Form I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status, online through your U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services account.
