The information was confirmed by First Deputy Chief of Cuban Customs, Wiliam Pérez González, through his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter), where he detailed that it was an attempt to violate the “regulations and standards in force in the country” in telecommunications matters.

"The illegal entry of these devices represents a direct violation of the provisions of the Ministry of Communications of Cuba", said Pérez González, adding that in the face of this type of violation, "Customs applies the corresponding rigorous measures."

Starlink technology, developed by SpaceX, enables high-speed satellite internet connection without the need for terrestrial infrastructure. Its use has generated concerncupaction among Cuban authorities, because it facilitates free access to the Internet without state control.

Cuba warns against illegal use of Starlink to connect to the Internet

Cuba maintains a tight control over telecommunications and internet access and made this known in recent warning.

The use of technologies that allow you to circumvent this control, such as Starlink, is considered a threat by the government, which has repeatedly warned about the unauthorized entry of this equipment and is now making it even clearer with the seizure of cutting-edge equipment at Cuban Customs.

The General Customs Office of the Republic reaffirmed that it will remain vigilant and act in accordance with regulations to prevent the entry of technologies unauthorized by the island's government.

The Cuban government also noted that national legislation expressly prohibits the importation and use of satellite equipment, including Starlink terminals, without prior approval.

This exposes users to penalties such as confiscations, fines and technical blocking of the Starlink Internet service in Cuba.
