The first residences for parole beneficiaries are approved after the resumption of procedures.

In recent hours, thousands of migrants benefiting from humanitarian parole received good news after confirmation that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) began approving applications for permanent residence, following several months of administrative suspension.

The news was announced by Cuban journalist Mario J. Pentón on his channel videos from, where he showed official documents confirming the resumption of processing of the I-485 application, related to adjustment of immigration status. Specifically, in this case, it involved a Cuban family who legally entered the country in December 2023 under the humanitarian parole program.

The suspension of these procedures had caused great uncertainty and frustration among thousands of Cubans, Venezuelans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans, who had received their entry permits but were unable to move forward with obtaining work permits or residency. With the recent reactivation, USCIS also began issuing residence cards, popularly known as "green cards."

"The process is officially unfrozen," Pentón stated, explaining that beneficiaries will be able to continue with the normal steps to adjust their legal status. He also encouraged migrants to comply with the laws and avoid any activity that jeopardizes their continued presence in the country.

This important progress follows a federal judge's decision ordering the U.S. government to resume suspended procedures. While there are still delays and slower processes for those who entered through other channels, such as CBP One, the signs are positive.

For now, the migrant community, especially the Cuban community, welcomes this measure with hope, considering it an essential step toward stability and permanent settlement in the United States.
