Vessels found in Cuban waters confiscated: Border Guard Troops Directorate issues official statement

The Ministry of the Interior's Border Guard Troops Directorate reported the confiscation of several vessels found in Cuban territorial waters.

This is in compliance with Resolution No. 1/2015 of the Minister of the Interior, which regulates the procedure for the seizure of these vessels on behalf of the Cuban State. The respective resolutions, issued by the Head of the National Department of Harbor Masters, detail the cases and specifications of each discovery.

According to the statement released by Granma, Resolution No. 11/2024, dated July 22, 2024, provides for the confiscation of a US-national Motor Sailboat type vessel, without name, with registration GA6513SW. 

With an 8-meter-long fiberglass hull and a 25 HP Yanmar engine, it was located on November 2, 2023, in Rincón del Sijú, Mantua municipality, Pinar del Río province.

Cuban Border Guard Troops Directorate: "Those affected have the right to file complaints."

Likewise, Resolution No. 13/2024, issued on the same date, orders the seizure of an unnamed, 6-meter-long boat powered by a 75-HP Yamaha engine. This vessel was found on December 30, 2023, in the San Silindran Canal, Martí municipality, Matanzas province.

Finally, Resolution No. 16/2024, dated August 12, 2024, details the confiscation of a Goldenship brand Zodiac-type vessel, without an engine and with a plastic and rubber hull. The vessel was found on May 25, 2024, in the Juan Claro Canalizo, Cárdenas municipality, Matanzas province.

In all cases, the Border Guard Troops clarify that those affected have the right to submit written complaints to the Head of the Directorate if they believe their rights have been violated. The deadline for submitting these complaints is 20 calendar days, starting from the publication of this statement in a national newspaper.
