Cuba: Etecsa extends the Multiplica X 12 international recharge promotion 

After declaring its financial health "unfavorable" due to a lack of foreign currency income, the Cuban Telecommunications Company has extended its latest international top-up promotion. 

It's the "Multiply your top-up by 12 and enjoy unlimited data from 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m." offer. Do you know what it means?

Customers in Cuba who receive an international recharge until May 29, from 500 CUP and up to 1250 CUP, they'll get 12 times the amount topped up to their main balance. Plus, they'll enjoy unlimited data from 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Validity

The so-called "Internet" for custodians, the unlimited data bonus from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m., will be valid for 30 days, counting from the date the top-up is received. Meanwhile, the main balance remains valid for the established period (330 days) from the date the top-up is received.

Only available from outside Cuba, through its international distributors. The minimum price will be approximately $20.

What is the Internet like in Cuba?

According to Etecsa officials this week, Cuba currently has "two fiber optic cable solutions and two satellite solutions, all of which are expensive, especially the latter." 

They also confirmed that the island is facing increasing saturation of the 3G network (used primarily for voice). Furthermore, some data traffic is also carried over this network, and the financial situation does not allow for the necessary investments. This same limitation affects 4G base stations, which are used for data traffic.
