Up to 12 hours of blackouts in Camagüey: Cuban government calls for "understanding and resistance"

The provincial electric company reported this weekend that there have been up to 12 hours of power outages in Camagüey.

In a note posted on his Facebook page last Friday, They communicated

"Yesterday, the maximum load removed was 65 MW during the day, and at peak power, the maximum was 77 MW. The maximum impact was around midday in both hours. This service situation continued throughout the day and into the early morning."

They also warned that if the current situation continues, they forecast "12 hours of disruption."

In the province, "only vital services such as hospitals and other entities, which are key targets for socioeconomic activity, are being protected," they added.

“The blocks are 12 hours long, and I wonder why in other provinces they are 6 and 8 hours long,” they commented in the Electric Company's publication.

Along the same lines, someone else confirmed: "12 hours of nighttime blackout again. Yesterday I called 15 more than 18888 times."

This last person, deeply outraged by the situation, added: "Our president declares that we are living our finest hour. I don't know what Cuba he's looking at; I'm sure it's not the one with people tired after 12 hours of blackout."

Regarding this, Miguel Díaz-Canel stated in Parliament that "we're fed up with this energy thing." He referred to the fact that in less than three months, two accidents have taken out 400 MW of generation.

The Cuban president also spoke about those expressing their discontent with the energy crisis. He acknowledged that "their incomprehension is legitimate because they are experiencing a difficult situation."

However, he warned that "they resort to banging pots, shouting against the leaders, and participating in acts of vandalism."

"That doesn't resolve the situation we have. They are responding to what the counterrevolution wants and to those who have us blocked." said Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

  1. Imagine asking the people for understanding when the Cuban people eat understanding for breakfast. They eat sacrifice for lunch. And they eat misery. In truth, I think it's out of context to ask for more understanding and sacrifice from a people who are plunged into the deepest misery. It's absurd to think that dissatisfied people raise their voices and it's said that they are playing into the hands of the imperialists. Or is it that the Cuban people are made of cardboard, neither feeling nor suffering?

  2. I don't understand why Camagüey is the most affected. We don't want crumbs. We want the blackouts to be equitable for all provinces. We know there are serious difficulties, but if we make them even for everyone, we'll suffer less. That word of solidarity from Havana to the rest of the country doesn't sound right. Havana is Cuba, Camagüey is Cuba, and the rest of the provinces are also Cuba. If the call for confrontation and solidarity is with all the provinces, then I'll turn them off so that it's equal. I fight for this, and I will never abandon my Cuba, but the poor practices must be rebuked. HOMELAND OR DEATH, UNITED WE WILL SELL

    • And are we Cubans made of plasticine? We can't complain or demand basic and elementary rights because we play along with the imperialists. There is no problem of any kind here. The truth is that this expression is completely out of context. What the Cuban people are experiencing, gentlemen rulers, is unbearable, irresistible and unbearable, no matter whose fault it is.

    • If the blackouts were the same for all Cubans, perhaps we would have some conformity, but that is not the case, because we know how it works and where there are privileges for convenience while the small municipalities are abused by taking it away for 12 hours, something that has us on the verge of flying even on the wing of a marching plane during the blackout hours, because you are very inconsiderate and abusive with us, it is something that cannot be borne, like a sociological torture and without mercy, it is all or no one, because we are not stupid and we know it.
