Thousands of immigrants have to leave their jobs after the revocation of Humanitarian Parole.

This Friday, many immigrant communities in the United States continued to receive bad news.

Several people who were legally residing and working under the Humanitarian Parole program were expelled from their jobs, after the sudden revocation of their work permits, according to reported Alexis Boentes for Telemundo 51. The measure, promoted this week by President Donald Trump's administration, generates uncertainty, pain, and much frustration.

Thousands of immigrants—mainly Cubans, but also Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans—will receive an official notification from the federal government in the coming days. The message is clear: their legal status has been suspended and they must leave the country.

The program, approved by the Biden administration in 2023, allowed legal entry for people under certain conditions. Once in the United States, they could live and work temporarily while adjusting their legal status, after completing one year and one day of presence in the case of Cubans. Many saw it as a source of hope, but that hope seems to have faded.

“It's very painful to have entered under a law and now be denied the rights we were offered,” wrote DV, one of those affected. “We're left without work, without housing, or food. They're throwing us out as if we were criminals. It's inhumane.”

The decision has also been harshly criticized by other immigrants and human rights advocates. "It's not fair. Many of us have been waiting for months for a response to adjust our status, and everything has been halted. It's impossible to live peacefully like this," VC shared.

For others, like Liliana L., it is a “harsh and inhumane” measure that fails to take into account the human impact behind political decisions.

The Trump administration justifies the measure as part of a new strategy to curb illegal immigration. However, civil society organizations and lawyers are calling for a more compassionate and orderly response.

For now, the reality for thousands of families is the fear of losing everything overnight, despite having followed the rules.
