Essential services: such as hospitals, pharmacies, transportation services, funeCemetery, fuel stations, tourist centers, lodging, and communications services. These services operate during their regular hours or as determined by the local authority.

Pharmacies: They open daily, even on holidays.

Restaurants and cafesSome restaurants are usually open until late at night. On holidays, the restaurant network usually maintains its usual hours, but they may change.

Shops and businesses: Because it is a holiday, most stores (both in national currency and in MLC) are closed today. Only fuel service stations typically operate 24 hours a day. Consult their official channels.

Recall that the Cuban Council of Ministers recently decreed a recess with pay for May 2.

Subsequently, Resolution 10 of 2025 The Ministry of Labor and Social Security ordered the payment of the basic salary for that day. This translates to: 

• Employers of entities and activities that suspend their work on May 2, 2025, pay workers their basic salary, unless it coincides with their weekly rest period or with the period in which they enjoy paid annual leave, salary guarantee, unpaid leave, or social security subsidy. 
• Workers who are exempt from taking breaks receive their salaries according to the payment methods and systems applied in their organization.
