Visa to travel from Cuba to Portugal

The Consular Section of the Portuguese Embassy in Cuba is responsible for processing visa applications for travel from the island to that European nation.

Cuban visa applicants to travel to Portugal are served in the Consular Section of the Embassy and must schedule an appointment one month in advance.

Requirements and documentation required for different types of visas to Portugal:

  1. Schengen Visit Visa:
  • Passport with a photocopy of the first page and any Schengen visas from the last 3 years (if applicable).
  • Photo size card.
  • Identification document.

  • Letter explaining the reason for the trip, printed and signed.
  • If you are a state employee, present a letter from the workplace with: work performed, salary and authorized vacation time (if applicable).
  • If you are a non-state worker, present: National Labor Organization (ONAT) card (authorization to work as a self-employed person and tax identification); Certification of compliance with tax obligations; Certification of registration in the taxpayer registry; Certification of non-tax debt.
  • Liability Term, original and legalized before a Portuguese notary (provided by the inviting party).
  • Proof of kinship, if inviting a relative (parents, children and siblings).
  • Photocopy of the Portuguese Identity Card (or legal document of residence in Portugal) and Taxpayer ID of the person who signs the Liability Agreement.
  • Proof of financial solvency of the signatory of the Term of Liability: copy of bank accounts (last month), the last payment receipt, and IRS declaration for the year concluded.
  • Proof of financial solvency of the Cuban applicant (letter from the Bank with bank account details and exchange rates to Euro).
  • Photocopy of property titles in Cuba: housing, car (if applicable).
  • Pre-booking of round-trip airline tickets. Final tickets do not need to be those presented at this stage.
  • The flight reservation date for departure to Portugal must be at least 20 days after the appointment at the Consular Section.
  1. Schengen Tourist Visa:
  • Passport with a photocopy of the first page and any Schengen visas from the last 3 years (if applicable).
  • Photo size card.
  • Identification document.
  • Visa application form, complete and correctly signed. Download Here the Portugal Visa Application Form template.
  • If you are a state employee, present an Employee Letter containing: work performed, salary and authorized vacation time (if applicable).
  • If you are a non-state worker, present: National Labor Organization (ONAT) card (authorization to work as a self-employed person and tax identification); Certification of compliance with tax obligations; Certification of registration in the taxpayer registry; Certification of non-tax debt.
  • Letter explaining the reasons for the trip, printed and signed.
  • Proof of financial solvency (letter from the Bank with bank account details and the exchange rate for Euros).
  • Photocopy of property titles in Cuba: real estate, automobile (if applicable).
  • Hotel reservation in Portugal. This must coincide with the date of the ticket reservation.
  • Reservations for round-trip airline tickets (final tickets do not need to be those presented at this stage).
  • The date of the air reservation must be at least 20 days after the appointment date at the Consular Section.

To request an appointment for visa processing at the Portuguese Consular Section in Havana, an email must be sent to [email protected]The document must contain the visa applicant's full name and phone number (mobile phone number).
